Rachael Guy is a multifaceted artist engaged in writing, performance and visual art. She collaborated with poet Andy Jackson on ‘Ambiguous Mirrors’, a poetry/puppetry work which toured Ireland in 2013. Her creative writing has been published in journals and online, internationally and within Australia, and has featured in Sleepers Almanac, Overland and Australian Poetry Journal.
In 2015 she was shortlisted for the Whitmore Press Manuscript Prize. In her writings about the body and illness, Rachael notes that: ”if you met me you wouldn’t know that I live with a debilitating condition. I belong to a category of individuals who don’t fit neatly into medical classifications and who often fail to fulfil preconceptions about what ‘chronic illness’ looks like. I was born with a hypersensitivity to pain and highly mobile joints . . .”
