Australian Children’s Laureate, Leigh Hobbs, is best known for the children’s books that he writes and illustrates featuring his characters Old Tom, Horrible Harriet, Fiona the Pig, The FREAKS in 4F, Mr Chicken and, most recently, Mr Badger. His book Mr Chicken Goes to Paris is a big seller in The Louvre Bookshop in Paris and was shortlisted for The Prime Minister’s Literature awards. And Horrible Harriet and Mr Chicken have been adapted for the stage of The Sydney Opera House. Children’s books are only one aspect of Leigh’s art work. He is also a painter, sculptor and has created ceramics and animated films. As well as art, Leigh has a passion for architecture, classical music and English history. He is a regular visitor to London, his favourite city.
