Dr Stuart Kells

Biography

Dr Stuart Kells is an author and bibliophile. His history of Penguin Books, Penguin and the Lane Brothers, recently won the Ashurst Australian Business Literature Prize. Stuart also wrote the critically acclaimed Rare: A Life among Antiquarian Books and has published a series of books about books, including the epic Australian Book Collectors.

He has recently completed a world tour of great libraries for his forthcoming book, The Library: A Catalogue of Wonders. Stuart speaks regularly and enthusiastically about the history and importance of libraries and of old and rare books. He is currently writing a history of Shakespeare’s library.
