Claire Saxby

Claire Saxby’s schooling included boarding school and distance education. She has lived in 23 houses and shamelessly plunders and rearranges them for her stories.  Claire writes fiction, non-fiction and poetry for children. Her work has been published widely both in Australia and internationally. Her picture book Emu was shortlisted in CBCA Awards 2015, and won both the Wilderness Award and a Whitley Award. Claire lives in Melbourne with her family and a very cat-like dog.

Claire’s most recent picture books are My Name is Lizzie Flynn, Meet Weary Dunlop and Christmas at Grandma’s Beach House.   Other books include Meet the ANZACS illustrated by Max Berry (Random House), and Big Red Kangaroo (Winner CBCA Crichton Award 2014, Certificate of Commendation Whitley Award 2014, Shortlist Queensland Literary Award 2014) illustrated by Graham Byrne (Walker Books).
