Willy Lit Fest – Wonderful Workshops!

We’ve put together a fabulous batch of  informative and engrossing workshops to get you writing, telling stories, crafting poetry and just being all round creative! Willy Lit Fest workshops traditionally sell out very quickly and this year we’re predicting they’ll go quicker than ever. Book now.

True Tales Told Live is for people who want to develop their skills at finding and crafting stories from their life. It is for those who want to reflect on their life; speak from the heart, rather than read; and deliver their story in a way that moves and entertains. Kate Lawrence will help you to find the stories from your lives, even when you think you don’t have any, and craft them into a satisfyingly shaped piece for telling. Saturday 13 June, 10.30am – 12.30pm. Tickets $25, concession $22 and early bird $20.

Sticky Stories – try your hand at Locative Literature with award-winning writer and artist, Matt Blackwood. Examine the space around you, and create a short story based on your experience that is written on Post-It notes and finally installed in the space.  Bring along your smartphone and you’ll be able to share your story with the wider world. Saturday 13 June, 10.30am -12.00pm and repeated at 2.00pm – 3.00pm. Tickets $15, concession $12 and early bird $10.

Research for your Book with Sherryl Clark. Researching is both a blessing and a curse. With so much information out there, how do you know where to start? And, where to stop? Proudly supported by Victoria University. Saturday 13 June, 12.00pm – 1.00pmTickets $5.

Victoria University Taster, with four great writers and lecturers from VU – Sherryl ClarkTracey Rolfe, Michael Kitson and Lucia Nardo. Come and enjoy a choice of four short writing workshops within the hour – speedy writing and questions answered. Get expert advice from folks who know about writing! Saturday 13 June, 2.00pm – 3.00pm. Free entry but bookings required.

Versatility and Creativity for Writers with Matthew Naqvi. The ability to be multi-disciplined is vital for writers who want to get their words out into the world. Matthew will outline skills to help build your writing output and reputation in this very competitive environment. Proudly supported by Victoria University. Saturday 13 June, 3.30pm-4.30pm. Tickets $5.

Learn Treasure Mapping with writer Lucia Nardo from Victoria University. Use collages to deepen creativity, develop writing plans, and work through writer’s block. No artistic skills required. Join Joel McKerrow for a very special performance and workshop. One of Australia’s most successful performance poets, Joel McKerrow, will perform his evocative and passionate poetry for thirty minutes, followed by a one hour workshop perfect for both beginners and long-time poets.
